Pitt Pantry School Competition

The BGSA is participating in a graduate school food drive competition for Pitt Pantry. This competition/drive is set to run from January 29- March 8.

Students can drop off unopened and unexpired shelf-stable food items and household products (please see attached file) at the labeled donation box located at the graduate studies office (M240 Alan Magee Scaife Hall, 3550 Terrace Street). Every Monday until the end of the drive, Pitt Pantry volunteers will pick up the donations from our school, take them to their location in O'Hara Student Center and weigh them.

At the end, points will be calculated for each school according to the weight of items. There will also be multipliers for items that are more needed which are listed below:

1) Halal = x3 product weight

2) Culture-specific food (i.e. seaweed sheets, rice noodles, curry powder, tortillas, cornmeal, couscous, canned coconut milk, tamarind, etc.) = x2.75 product weight

3) Specialty-made gluten-free/vegan products = x2.5 product weight

4) Non-dairy milk (specifically oat/soy) = x2.25 product weight

5) Menstrual products (pads & reusable cups) = x2.00 product weight

At the end of the competition, GPSG will announce the winning schools via email and Instagram (these schools will receive extra financial support from GPSG). Please consider participating in this drive to support Pitt Pantry and help BGSA win the competition. If you have any questions, please email Abdalla Wedn (Abw42@pitt.edu)
